How does the Acoustic leak detection method work?

Acoustic  using electronic equipment to localise the lowest consistent noise emitted by water escaping the pipework whilst reducing noise from interferingsources (like passing vehicles, people talking, and pedestrian footsteps). This method works well when aiming to locate a water leak within underground services leaking at a rate of greater than 6 litres per minute.
